Who We Are !
I am known as the Oregon Jam Lady. Heading up the cooking and canning department. I have been canning jams, jelly's, fruits, vegetables and just about anything else that can fit into a jar for the last forty five years. I moved to Oregon about 11 years ago after coming for a visit. The abundance of wild berries was overwhelming. I was sending jams and canned berries to my family and friends. When my neighbors got wind of this they started sampling my products and became loyal customers.
Summer is the busiest time, without my son and daughter's help there would be no wild blackberry's or wild huckleberry's for jam. They do all the berry picking and collect mushrooms in the fall and winter. They move crates of fruit, pit cherries, haul boxes of finished product and do just about anything else that needs to be done around here. Jam making takes up four days a week and the other three days I spend selling at the local farmers markets. In the winter I do a couple of local Xmas shows, get ready for the next season and make Native American type artwork..

I moved to a home that had a small storefront and a huge kitchen and applied for a domestic kitchen license with the Dept. of Agriculture. I have been selling retail for the last five years. Starting with blackberry and huckleberry I added local blueberry's and cranberry's. We planted rhubarb, strawberry's and gooseberry's in the garden. The deer love the ripe gooseberry's and don't mind the thorns at all. Neighbors have organic apple and plum and pear trees. My inventory of jams started to grow and many came to be made due to customer request. One customer requested pomegranate jelly and it took four batches to get it just right. She personally tested each batch and let me know when it was just right. This is now one of my best sellers.
All my homemade jams, jelly's, chutneys and infused oils are made in small batches. This makes the cooking time shorter and retains the flavor and texture of the fruits. It may take a little longer but the quality is outstanding. My seedless jams are whole fruit jams. The berries are put through an old food press and only the seeds are removed.
I want to thank all my loyal customers for their requests and letting me know what needed fixing. Another thanks goes out to my friend Alice. Even though she also makes pickles, jams and other product for sale she has always been there to help. I can't forget Ramón who owns and runs the local produce stands for pointing me in the right direction on what and when to buy. You can find his stands in Gold Beach, Coos Bay and Brookings Harbor all summer long. Always free samples before you buy.
